Broadcasts & email credits
A broadcast is an email you write and send yourself: a reminder, a schedule change, a speaker announcement, or an invitation to people who haven't registered yet. Open the event, then Broadcast under Promote. You need the Email, SMS & broadcast permission.
Broadcasts are sent by email. Each one uses email credits — see Email credits below. The automatic emails BagEvent sends for you (confirmations, e-tickets, approvals and so on) never use credits.
You don't need a broadcast for the basic reminder
Ticket holders already get one automatic reminder in the day before the event starts, and an automatic email when a published event's time, venue or join link changes. See Automatic reminder and change notices. Use a broadcast for anything you want to say on top of that.
Create a broadcast
Choose Create broadcast → and answer two questions:
- Who is this going to?
- Notify attendees — people already registered for this event.
- Send invitations — people who haven't registered yet, from your contacts. The email is marked as an invitation and ends with a Register button.
- Pick a layout — for example Event reminder, Schedule change, Speaker lineup or Standard invitation — or Start from blank →. Layouts only seed the blocks; you can change everything.
Then Open the editor →. The editor has three steps: Content, Audience and Review.
Content
- Subject line (required) and Preview text — the grey line many inboxes show after the subject.
- Blocks — add Header, Text, Button, Image, Divider, Agenda, Tickets, Speakers or 2 columns, and reorder them with the arrows or by dragging. Blocks marked Auto fill themselves from the event: the header uses the event's name, dates and venue; Agenda and Speakers pull from the event's agenda and speakers; Tickets shows each recipient the tickets they can still buy.
- Variables — in a text block, Variable inserts personal details such as
,,or, filled in for each recipient. - Preview — switch between Desktop and Mobile.
Images are added by URL. Button links must be full https:// addresses (or ).
Broadcasts come from BagEvent's sending address. Replies go to the event's Contact for attendees email, set under Basics.
Save as layout keeps the design for later. Saved layouts appear under Your saved layouts when you create a broadcast, and are managed in Broadcast layouts (under Resources in the left navigation), where you can Rename, Share or Delete them.
Audience
For Notify attendees, choose:
- All attendees — everyone registered for this event (active, approved registrations; refunded registrations are left out).
- By ticket type — holders of the tickets you pick.
- By check-in status — Checked in only or Not checked in.
- Custom filter — several conditions (ticket type, check-in, company, registration-form answers), all of which must hold.
For Send invitations, choose Everyone in your contacts or Particular groups.
Under Exclude, you can leave out anyone who already got one of this event's recent broadcasts. Unsubscribed people are always left out. Each address gets one email even if it matches twice. A broadcast can go to at most 5,000 recipients. Preview list → shows a sample of who's included.
The recipient list is fixed when you send, schedule or save the broadcast. People who register afterwards aren't added.
Review and send
Review checks the subject, content, audience and unsubscribe link, and shows what the broadcast will cost: Balance, This send and After.
- Send a test first — send a test to your own address (it must belong to a member of your organization). Tests are marked [Test], use sample data, and cost no credits.
- Measurement — Count clicks is on by default; Count opens is off by default. Counting opens may need recipients' consent in some countries, including the EU and UK.
- Sending — Send now, Schedule (pick a date and time), or Save as draft.
Then select Send to N →, Schedule → or Save draft. A draft is sent later from the broadcast list with Send. Drafts can't be edited, so check them before saving; a Scheduled broadcast can be cancelled with Cancel.
Every broadcast includes an unsubscribe link. The footer also carries a "Powered by BagEvent" line, except on the Business and Enterprise plans.
After sending
While it sends, the page shows progress; you can leave. When it's done you see Sent, Failed and Skipped, and — if you turned measurement on — Opened and Clicked. Click a recipient count in the list to see who got it, filtered by Delivered, Failed or Skipped. Retry N re-sends to the failed addresses; it uses credits again.
Delivery log (on the Broadcast page) opens the Message log: a record of every email the event has sent, automatic ones included, with the status of each and a View button to read it.
Email credits
- 1 credit = 1 broadcast email sent. Credits are taken when sending starts, for every recipient it goes to. Test sends are free.
- Automatic emails don't use credits. Registration confirmations, e-tickets, approval results, payment and refund notices and the other emails under Notification settings are included in your plan.
- Plans don't include credits. You buy them in prepaid packs once you're on a paid plan.
Buy credits
Open Plan & billing and, in the Email card, choose Buy email credits →:
| Pack | Price |
|---|---|
| 5,000 emails | USD 10 |
| 20,000 emails | USD 30 |
| 100,000 emails | USD 100 |
Each pack is valid for 90 days from purchase. Credits that expire soonest are used first, and unused credits lapse when their pack expires. You pay by card through Stripe, and the purchase appears in your Billing history. Buying credits needs an active paid plan (not a trial) and the payment-account permission.
If your balance doesn't cover a broadcast, Send and Schedule are blocked and the Review step links to Buy credits →. You can still save it as a draft.
